Procedural Issues Committee Chair labels President's initiative as provocation
Irakli Kadagishvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliamentary Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, asserts that President Salome Zourabichvili’s proposal to establish a coordinating platform in the presidential palace for monitoring Election Day is a provocation.
Kadagishvili contends that this initiative is intended to undermine the credibility of the Central Election Commission (CEC), which, he insists, “operates at a high level, as confirmed by all international assessments.”
“This initiative appears to be the beginning of a disparaging campaign that will emerge when the President’s ally, the National Movement, loses the elections, just as occurred in 2020. The CEC functions under high professional standards, and all international opinions corroborate this. The framework for electronic voting stands as one of the highest standards in Europe, and their criticisms are utterly absurd,” he stated.
On Monday, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili announced plans to establish a coordinating platform in the presidential palace on October 26 to monitor Election Day.
