Procedural Committee set to discuss Gakharia for Georgia mandates’ termination next week

The Procedural Committee is scheduled to review the termination of parliamentary mandates for members of the Gakharia for Georgia party next week.

Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules, announced during the committee meeting.

According to Matikashvili, the committee will prepare a preliminary conclusion, and appropriate actions will follow based on its findings.

“We are concluding the current sessional week and the entire spring session. Several issues remain unresolved, including the potential termination of mandates for individual members of parliament. This topic has been discussed previously. A dedicated committee will handle it. As of now, the information indicates that members of the Gakharia for Georgia party have been absent without justification, thus violating the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Georgia. Our committee will verify this once again to ensure that no incorrect information is disseminated in any form.

We will conduct a thorough review of all 12 MPs to determine the extent of their violations of parliamentary rules. From a technical standpoint, it is our committee’s responsibility to investigate and draw a conclusion. We plan to convene a meeting on this matter on Monday. We will discuss the investigation results. We will not comment further on this issue in advance,” said Matikashvili.
