Prime Minister: strategic partners call on opposition to do politics in parliament
“Our strategic partners call on the opposition to do something simple, do politics in parliament and not in the streets. They say people voted for you and hold you accountable, so use the parliamentary tribune, not the street,” Georgian Prime Minister told journalists after the confidence vote.
Giorgi Gakharia said the ruling team always perceives and listens to criticism from strategic partners in a healthy way. When our friends, our strategic partners, call us to do something, we do what they say.
According to the Prime Minister, the absence of the opposition within the parliament does not create discomfort and problems for him, but the country and the decision-making process.
Gakharia said the citizens went to the polls during the pandemic, and for the first time in the history of Georgia, the opposition won 60 seats. According to Gakharia, it is incomprehensible for him to refuse this achievement.
The opposition is unjustly expecting unimaginable scenarios to lead them to revolutionary development, Giorgi Gakharia told reporters in response to a question about the single-party parliament.
At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that the negotiation is an obligation of all parties.
“Dialogue is not a perspective. It is our obligation before the citizens of Georgia,” the Prime Minister answered the question of whether there is a resource for negotiations with the opposition.
According to the head of the government, the ruling team agrees to this responsibility and is ready for the talks.
