Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, accompanied by Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, visited Oni Municipality to inspect construction works on the Shkmeri–Mravaldzali secondary road, a project being carried out by the Roads Department.

Preparatory and mobilisation works are currently underway, following which active road construction will commence.

The Prime Minister underscored the significance of the infrastructure project for the region, noting that its completion will facilitate safe and comfortable travel for both local residents and tourists. Irakli Kobakhidze also focused on the plans to develop a unique resort area in Mravaldzali.

“The 9.5-kilometre section of the Shkmeri–Mravaldzali road will significantly reduce travel time between Shkmeri and Mravaldzali. We have ambitious plans for the development of Mravaldzali. Mravaldzali is a unique location capable of hosting a world-class resort area. The Ministry of Economy is actively working on this initiative, collaborating with Austrian partners to draft a comprehensive masterplan. Naturally, constructing this road is of paramount importance to that goal. The roadworks are expected to conclude in approximately two years,” Irakli Kobakhidze noted.
