Press Attaché of US Embassy says notification for selling of Javelin sent to Congress
Notification about selling of Javelin Anti-tank missile systems to Georgia is already sent to US Congress — Press Attaché of US Embassy to Georgia Kristin Roberts said.
“Georgia is an independent, sovereign country which has the right to choose its own course including about security and defense capabilities,” Roberts said and clarified that this is a sales offer rather than grant or credit.
The US State Department approved sale of Javelin Anti-tank missile systems valued at USD 75 million to Georgia. Besides 410 Javelin missiles, the deal includes 72 Javelin command launch units, 10 basic skills trainers and up to 70 simulated rounds, The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has said in a press release.
