Presidential Administration: President issued act awarding Football Team members in May with a ceremony set for September
The Georgian presidential administration has issued a statement, clarifying the situation regarding the national football team members’ award.
The statement reads that an official awarding ceremony was planned for the end of May at the Orbeliani Palace. Still, it could not occur due to the absence of the national team members in Georgia.
“Disinformation was spread today, suggesting that the President refuses to award the members of the national football team and the national football federation representatives. By the existing practice, the President issues the act of award a few days before the awards are presented.
On May 23, 2024, the President issued decrees (n:23/05/02 and n:23/05/01) awarding the nominated individuals an Order of Honor and a medal. An official awarding ceremony was planned for the end of May at the Orbeliani Palace. Still, it could not occur due to the absence of the national team members in Georgia.
The next gathering of the national team will take place in Georgia at the beginning of September. At this time, the President of Georgia will present awards to the national team members and representatives of the Football Federation at the Orbeliani Palace,” the statement reads.
