Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili joined the protest going on for the 17th day at Rustaveli Avenue.
Zourabichvili said no provocation would occur this evening and called on protesters to be calm.
“We are together in joy and misfortune, if we celebrate we celebrate together. We are calm, nothing will happen this evening, and no provocation will occur. Today’s lighting of New Year Tree was postponed and I think they will be coming to my place on St. Barbara Day. May you be peaceful, well. I am with you. We will not admit any provocation. I am with you, you are in my heart,” she told the demonstrators.
