President urges strict measures in response to incident in parliament
In response to the recent incident in the Parliament of Georgia, President Salome Zourabichvili issued a statement condemning the behaviour of several MPs and calling for strict measures.
“Today, I heard words that insult the entire Parliament of Georgia. I want to express my complete solidarity with the women who came out and protested today.
This is entirely unacceptable, and there are no words to describe how inappropriate and shameful it is for Georgians, for Georgia, and for the Parliament of Georgia,” the President states.
Zourabichvili called on the Parliament Speaker to take the strictest measures against those involved in the incident. She emphasized the urgency of a quick and decisive reaction to maintain the dignity of the Parliament of Georgia.
