President Kavelashvili: We must never lose faith that Georgia will certainly be reunited

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Heroes Who Died for Georgia’s Unity on the anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi.

The President was joined at the memorial by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, representatives of the executive and legislative branches, as well as family members of those who died in the war.

Kavelashvili paid tribute to the memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for Georgia’s unity and freedom.

“We remember every person who sacrificed their life for Georgia. In honoring their memory, it is our duty to protect peace and never lose faith that our country will certainly be reunited,” Kavelashvili said.

According to the President, commemorating this day places a responsibility on the country to continue working toward Georgia’s reunification through peaceful and consistent state policy, preserve peace and strengthen the state.
