Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili will attend the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican on May 18.
Pope Leo XIV, formerly American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, was elected by the conclave on May 8.
Pope Francis passed away on April 21 at the age of 88. He was laid to rest in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome under his will.
President Kavelashvili also attended Pope Francis’ funeral in the Vatican.
