Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of the legendary film director Eldar Shengelaia.

Sharing his sentiments on social media, Kavelashvili described Shengelaia’s death as a tremendous loss for the entire nation.

“I extend my deepest condolences on the death of Georgian film director Eldar Shengelaia.

His passing represents a significant loss for our country. Through his boundless creativity, Eldar Shengelaia left an indelible imprint not only on Georgian cinema but also on our cultural landscape. Countless generations of viewers cherished his work.

I offer my heartfelt sympathies to Eldar Shengelaia’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Georgian society,” the President of Georgia wrote.

Eldar Shengelaia, a revered film director, passed away at the age of 92.
