President Kavelashvili: Georgia stands as independent, dignified sovereign state ready for equal partnerships

“We pursue a foreign policy firmly rooted in our national interest,” declared the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, during an appearance on Imedi Live.

The President noted that his predecessor had chosen an anti-state and unconstitutional path.

“With my assumption of the presidency, the institution of the President has finally been brought back within its proper constitutional framework. As you know, my predecessor chose a fundamentally different route, one that was anti-state and unconstitutional. On foreign policy, the public heard one set of messages from the President and entirely different ones from the executive branch. The public will agree that such a divide was abnormal. People can now see that proper institutional balance has been restored,” Kavelashvili stated.

The President highlighted the recent surge in official visits abroad by the President, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of Parliament, as well as the influx of foreign leaders visiting Georgia.

“This demonstrates that our foreign policy is clear and distinct. We strive to formulate our national interests around policies built on mutual trust and mutual benefit. We position ourselves to ensure that our role and purpose are fully understood by every partner with whom we engage.

Historically, whenever the Georgian state was strong and successful, it pursued this approach precisely: we do not attack anyone; we remain dedicated to our nation’s interests, ready to engage with all countries based on mutual respect, trust, and shared benefit. Today, the state presents a unified vision, making it far easier to convey our position.

We have managed to withstand severe challenges. We stand as an independent, sovereign, and dignified state, ready to conduct diplomacy with every nation as equals,” Kavelashvili continued.
