President Kavelashvili champions Georgia's Armed Forces as living legacy of national courage
“It holds great significance to put on the military uniform – there is no greater pride than this. Our army is the most important part of our small, brave nation’s greatest history,” declared Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili at the opening of a military camp.
According to the President, Georgian strength is formidable and will become even more powerful.
“I want to thank the representatives of the Defence and Education ministries who have been successfully implementing this project for the third year now. This is a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the way of life in the Georgian army.
I want to congratulate you on today’s achievement. I am confident that this moment will remain with you throughout your entire career. The emotions, impressions, and energy you invest today will serve as a shining example for others to follow.
You must understand that our army is the backbone of our small nation’s most remarkable history. Our soldiers, ancestors, and heroes sacrificed their most precious gift— their very lives—so that we could enjoy independence, freedom, and strength today. This process is ongoing; both our army and our country continue to grow stronger every day. I am confident that soon we will become even stronger,” Kavelashvili addressed the event participants.
According to Mikheil Kavelashvili, while opening the military camp is significant, he also emphasizes the importance of introducing military education into schools to foster patriotism and prepare future generations.
“Beyond the significance of this camp as a vital project, we have also embarked on introducing military education in our schools, and this initiative is progressing successfully. The number of students participating would increase year by year. Military education must become a mandatory part of our curriculum. Our goal is for this knowledge to become ingrained in every Georgian citizen. Everyone should have at least a basic understanding of what national defence entails, what the Georgian army represents, and what their individual role should be in safeguarding Georgia’s future. I have unwavering faith in the Georgian people and in our youth,” declared the President.
The President of Georgia states that Georgians learn freedom from no one, and this is proven by history.
“The Georgian people are inherently freedom-loving. Our entire history has been a continuous struggle for liberty. In today’s world, there is a strong emphasis on personal freedom through various ideologies. Georgia itself stands as living proof that freedom remains deeply valued in every aspect of our lives. However, we are seldom reminded of the true cost of this freedom. Today, we enjoy independence, secured by the triad of motherland, language, and faith — the very sacrifices our ancestors made so that we could stand free today.
Freedom cannot exist without this triad. The homeland must always be a guiding force in your profession and success. Part of true achievement is when our athletes bring us pride when we celebrate in their uniforms, but even greater significance lies in donning the military uniform. There is no greater honour than this,” declared Kavelashvili.
