President Kavelashvili begins official visit to Azerbaijan

The official visit of the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, to Azerbaijan has commenced, the Presidential Administration reported.

A welcoming ceremony took place at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, where President Kavelashvili was received by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Yagub Eyyubov.

During the visit, President Kavelashvili will meet with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. High-level bilateral meetings are also scheduled with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan and the Chairman of the Milli Mejlis.

“My first official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan has begun.

During this visit, I will engage in both one-on-one and extended meetings with my counterpart, President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Ali Asadov, and the Chairperson of the Milli Mejlis, Sahiba Gafarova.

I am honoured that my first official visit as President of Georgia is to our close and strategic partner, the Republic of Azerbaijan,” President Kavelashvili wrote on social media.
