President Kavelashvili arrives in Rome for Pope Francis’ funeral

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has arrived in Rome with an official delegation, as the presidential administration reported. A welcoming ceremony was held for President Kavelashvili at Ciampino Military Airport.

The president will attend the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican on April 26.

The Georgian delegation includes Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Head of the Presidential Administration Ketevan Kvinikadze, Metropolitan Gerasime, Administrator of the Zugdidi and Tsaishi Diocese and Chairman of the Foreign Relations Department of the Georgian Patriarchate, and Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze, Rector of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary.
