President condemns occupied Abkhazia's move to transfer Sokhumi airport to Russia

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili condemns the decision of the so-called parliament of the occupied Abkhazia region to transfer the strategic Sokhumi airport to Russia for management.

The President said the move requires a reaction from the international community.

“I strongly condemn and protest the decision by the so-called parliament of temporarily occupied Abkhazia to transfer strategic location – Sokhumi airport to an Illegal act by Russia that requires a categorical and firm reaction of the international community!” Zourabichvili tweeted.

On July 26, the so-called parliament of the occupied Abkhazia region of Georgia ratified the Agreement with Russia for the reconstruction of Sokhumi Airport with a 49-year lease period.
