Police seize particularly large amount of drugs, foreign national detained
Officers of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, born in 1999, on charges of facilitating the illegal purchase, storage, and sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
“Patrol police inspectors stopped the suspect for inspection while he was moving through Tbilisi. During a personal search of the accused, identified as Sh.H., law enforcement officers seized 28 packages containing various narcotic drugs — including methamphetamine and cocaine — which had been prepared for sale.
During a search of the suspect’s temporary residence, law enforcement officers also seized a particularly large quantity of various narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage a penalty of up to 12 years or life imprisonment,” the MIA said in a statement.
