Through concerted operational efforts and investigative measures, officers from the Main Division for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained A.M., born in 1990, on charges of drug trafficking.
This crime carries a penalty of up to 12 years in prison.
“The investigation revealed that the suspect was illegally cultivating plants containing narcotic substances in a temporarily rented house near Bazaleti Lake. Law enforcement officers uncovered and confiscated an unprecedented number of 136 cannabis plants from greenhouses specially constructed by A.M. as evidence.
An investigation is ongoing into the illegal cultivation of narcotic-containing plants on a large scale, under Article 265 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs reads.
