Police seize large quantity of drugs, arrest two 

Tbilisi police seized a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs during two operations conducted yesterday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

According to the Director of the Tbilisi Police Department, Vazha Siradze, officers confiscated about 12,000 Ecstasy pills, 520 Subotex pills, as well as cocaine, MDMA, and marijuana.

The operations were carried out by the Central Criminal Police Department together with the Tbilisi Police Department. As a result, two individuals were arrested: J.G., born in 1959, and E.K., a Latvian citizen born in 1979, both of whom have multiple prior convictions related to drug crimes.

“During the search of the suspects’ personal belongings, vehicles, and temporary residence, police discovered narcotics, packaging materials, an electric scale, adhesive tape, and a large amount of cash allegedly obtained from the illegal drug trade,” Siradze said at a briefing.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
