Police seize large quantities of various narcotics; six arrested

Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) have arrested six individuals on charges of the unlawful acquisition, storage, facilitating the sale of particularly large quantities of narcotics, and the cultivation of plants containing narcotic substances.

According to the Ministry, the detainees include both Georgian nationals and foreign citizens.

“The investigation established that the accused were involved in criminal drug-trafficking schemes. For subsequent distribution, they placed narcotics in various locations, photographed them, and sent the images, complete with specific markers and coordinates, to interested buyers.

Following searches of the suspects’ persons, residences, and various drop locations, law enforcement officers seized particularly large quantities of narcotics prepared for sale as physical evidence. The seized substances include nearly one kilogram of cocaine, five kilograms of cannabis, nearly five kilograms of cannabis plants, hashish, 520 tabs of lysergide (LSD), and 23 pre-packaged deals of mephedrone.

As a result of investigative actions, police also recovered materials used for packaging the narcotics.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260, 260-quater, and 265-prima of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a potential sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated in its release.
