Police seize illegal firearms in Samegrelo; four arrested
Officers from the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) have arrested four individuals following police operations conducted at various times, charging them with the unlawful acquisition, storage, and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
According to the Ministry, search operations of the suspects’ persons and residences yielded three handguns, a sawn-off shotgun, magazines, and live ammunition as physical evidence. In addition, cannabis was seized from one of the detainees.
The investigation is being conducted under Articles 236 and 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a potential sentence of up to seven years’ imprisonment.
