Police in Adjara detain three foreign nationals on drug-related charges

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced the detention of three foreign nationals in Adjara on drug-related charges.

According to official reports, law enforcement officers from the Adjara Police Department conducted operational and investigative measures, resulting in the detention of Turkish citizens: A.T., born in 1997; E.C., born in 2003; and D.I., born in 2000. They are suspected of illegal purchase and possession of vast quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

“The offence carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment,” the Ministry stated.

“During investigative activities, including personal searches of the suspects, law enforcement officers seized a significant amount of cocaine and the psychotropic substance pregabalin as evidence. Additionally, a small electronic scale was confiscated. The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 261 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the Ministry added.
