Police have detained 16 people during a protest on Rustaveli Avenue, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
According to the Ministry, demonstrators repeatedly ignored police instructions not to block traffic, prompting the arrests under the Code of Administrative Offenses.
“Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been mobilized to maintain public order in connection with the ongoing demonstration on Rustaveli Avenue. Despite repeated warnings not to disrupt traffic, participants refused to comply with lawful requests, resulting in the detention of 16 individuals,” the statement said.
The Ministry urged protesters to refrain from gathering on the roadway and to express their views within the limits set by law, warning that police will respond to any violations.
