Police arrest three individuals for organizing and participating in group violence during protests
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that the Central Criminal Police Department has arrested three individuals for organizing, leading, and participating in group violence, following the investigation.
According to the agency, L.J., born in 2004, has been detained on charges of organizing and leading group violence. G.T., born in 1971, and R.K., born in 1998, face charges of participating in group violence.
“These crimes carry potential prison sentences of up to nine years.
The investigation revealed that the accused engaged in violent group actions on Rustaveli Avenue during ongoing protests. They actively resisted law enforcement officers who were present to maintain public order and threw various objects at them.
The investigation is proceeding under the first and second parts of Article 225 of the Criminal Code.
The case is being pursued under Articles 225, 239-1, 187, 353-1, and 18-229-1 of the Criminal Code. These articles cover charges related to the organization of group violence, public incitement to violence, preparation of explosive devices, assaulting police officers, and property damage,” the statement reads.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that a total of 26 individuals have been detained in connection with this investigation to date.
