It is stated in the annual report to the parliament by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili that Georgia continues to make irreversible and consistent progress on the European Union integration path, which is demonstrated through fulfilling commitments taken under the Association Agreement.
According to the report, Georgia submitted an official application for EU Accession on March 3, considering the new geopolitical reality following Russia’s unjustified and non-provoked aggression against Ukraine.
“Georgia unilaterally confirmed its commitment to EU membership by submitting the EU Accession application,” the report reads. Further, the document said that Georgia received the Questionnaire from the European Commission in two parts, which it completed pre-term and re-submitted to the Commission on May 2 and May 10.
Meanwhile, the Georgian government kept on bilateral meetings with the European partners and expanded the cooperation with the EU in Eastern Partnership format. A new stage in partnership in the Associated Trio format (Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine) has emerged since these countries applied for EU candidacy.
