PM wishes children peace, health, prosperity and progress

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili congratulated children on International Children’s Day marked on June 1. In his congratulatory message, the PM wished them peace, health, prosperity, and progress, adding the government continues working to ensure “better opportunities for the development of our future generations.”

“Today, together with the whole world, we celebrate International Day for the Protection of Children.

Caring for children and future generations is one of our Government’s top priorities. Ensuring equal access to healthcare and education for all children is vitally important.

Numerous steps taken by the Government of Georgia year after year serve the purpose of fulfilling this key task. This year, from June 1, in order to improve children’s socioeconomic conditions, assistance for socially vulnerable children will increase further, and about 232,000 children will now receive 200 GEL a month, for which 465 million GEL will be allocated from the state budget.

We will continue working toward putting in place better conditions for children and creating even better opportunities for the development of our future generations.

I join all of you in celebrating International Day for the Protection of Children. I wish peace, health, prosperity, and progress to every child in our country,” he said.

The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland, proclaimed June 1 to be International Children’s Day in 1925.
