Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze responded to the statement made by the US Embassy in connection with the TBC Bank founders. According to the PM, the transparent process will be ensured in the case.

“First of all, I would like to say that TBC Bank is a very powerful financial institution, it is a systemic bank for our economy and of course, as I have said before, we should not damage such an important financial institution for our economy. This is my call to all sides, including Mamuka Khazaradze and politicians, who try to earn political scores from this process.

TBC Bank is a systemic, strong bank, represented on the London Stock Exchange – hence, we should be very careful with our statements.

As for the statement of our strategic partner, the US Embassy, we all share its spirit – of course, a transparent process must be guaranteed and it will be so.

I want to repeat once again – Georgia has a justice system of the European level and this is the main thing. Therefore, I am sure there will be no questions around this process like any other process,” Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

On July 24, the General Prosecutor’s Office presented charges to Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Supervisory Board of TBC Bank on the fact of legalization of illegal revenues in the amount of USD 16 754 000.
