PM vows gov't to try best to punish all those accused of killing Giga Otkhozoria
“Georgian government will spare no effort to punish all those accused of killing Giga Otkhozoria,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared on Wednesday.
Five years have passed since the murder of Georgian citizen Giga Otkhozoria by occupying forces in the village of Khurcha, near the Russian-occupied Abkhazia region.
PM vows “the government is using all possible levers to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Georgian man Giga Otkhozoria was shot six times by so-called border-guard Rashid Kanjiogli at a checkpoint near the village of Khurcha.
Zugdidi City Court sentenced Kanjiogli to 14 years in prison on December 26, 2016.
Kanjiogli was initially placed under house arrest but the Abkhazian authorities later dropped the charges against him.
