PM visits First University Clinic where Tornike Rizhvadze is hospitalized

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has arrived at the First University Clinic, where Tornike Rizhvadze [former Chairman of the Adjara Government] is currently receiving treatment.

The PM is accompanied by Adjara Government Chairman Sulkhan Tamazashvili and Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze.

Rizhvadze was admitted to Sagarejo Geohospital following a gunshot wound on July 7. He was subsequently transferred to the First University Clinic for specialised care. An investigation into Rizhvadze’s case has been launched under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to incitement to suicide.

Aleksi Akhvlediani, head of the Maritime Transport Agency, was detained as a suspect in connection with the case. He was freed earlier today on a 30,000 GEL bail. Akhvlediani faces charges under Article 238 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which concerns the illegal storage of firearms that resulted in serious consequences.
