PM urges for unity, offers condolences to families of Shovi landslide victims
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili offered his condolences to the families of Shovi landslide victims.
“I express my deep sorrow and offer my condolences to the families of our citizens who unfortunately died in this tragedy. I share their sorrow. This is the tragedy, and the whole nation is united around it,” he said.
The PM said he held a meeting at the field headquarters of the Emergency Situations Management Service and obtained the latest information about ongoing rescue efforts and the needs of the disaster-struck population.
Irakli Garibashvili thanked the rescuers who managed to safely move 210 people from the disaster area for their rescue efforts.
“In this difficult moment, I would like to ask everyone to unite, express solidarity and pray for these families,” he said.
The August 3 deadly landslide in the Oni municipality’s Shovi resort killed seven people, with over 30 still missing.
