PM praises Georgian soldiers for Peacekeeping Mission in Afghanistan

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili addressed Georgian soldiers at the Senaki military base on completing the Peacekeeping Mission in Afghanistan.

PM said Georgia had contributed to the global struggle against terrorism for 17 years. Georgian soldiers secured an image of a brave and professional army, while Georgia being a reliable ally.

Garibashvili noted that Georgia was the top non-NATO contributor to the UN-led Peacekeeping Mission in Afghanistan. The Prime Minister stressed that Georgia would continue to strengthen global security.

“Georgia will continue to strengthen global security in all existing formats and cooperate with our partners and make our contribution to this end,” PM claimed.

PM Garibashvili praised over 20 thousand soldiers for heroism and professionalism. He said that their bravery brought Georgia closer to the west. The Head of the government congratulated the military servicemen on the peacekeeping mission completion and wished them success.

Georgia had participated in the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan since 2004.
