PM: SSSG plays a pivotal role in defending Georgia’s constitutional order

“The State Security Service was established 11 years ago, an institution which plays a pivotal role in defending Georgia’s constitutional order and the security of each Georgian citizen,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze addressing the ceremonial event dedicated to the 11th anniversary of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG).

According to the PM, peace and stability constitute the fundamental basis for the country’s democratic and economic development and progress, a foundation that rests precisely on the daily efforts of every employee of the State Security Service.

“Guarding peace on a daily basis is linked to high risks. I honor those who died while performing their official duties. Amid a complex geopolitical situation globally and serious security challenges in our region, attempts of foreign intelligence services and destructive forces to destibilize the country and change the government through violence have been thwarted successfully.

However, threats have not gone anywhere. Occupation of Georgia’s territories remains one of the main challenges. The primary priority of our government is to respond immediately to destructive actions along the occupation line and to protect the fundamental rights of our fellow citizens living in the occupied territories,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
