PM: Similar to Olympic Games, Paralympians get same amount of awards
“Similar to the Olympic Games, the Paralympians will be awarded the same amount of awards; all para-athletes who have not won a medal will also be awarded 50,000 GEL,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during his remarks at the Paralympians’ welcome ceremony.
According to the Prime Minister, the decision to offer the prizes has already been made, and they will be presented to them tomorrow.
“I’d also want to remind you that, along with the Chairman of the Parliament, we decided to reward all medallists, who have been nominated for the highest state awards. Irma Khetsuriani is also nominated for the highest state prize, and the coaches are nominated for the appropriate accolades.
I would like to thank Rati Ionatamishvili, President of the Georgian Paralympic Committee, for his particular efforts.
Special thanks to all relevant federations, the Minister of Culture and Sports, Mrs. Tea Tsulukiani, and the Ministry as a whole. Many people have contributed to the success of our Parasport and Paralympic team, and I thank every employee for their special contribution.
“I’d like to thank the coaches, doctors, technical team, and, most importantly, the Paralympians,” added the Prime Minister.
