PM says no argument heard on anti-democratic changes

“I have not heard any argument about anti-democratic changes or moves in Georgia for the last period,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in Tusheti when remarking on the meeting with Uzra Zeya, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights.

According to the PM, Georgia-US relations with change for the better from the next year, describing the meeting as “very interesting and friendly.”

“We discussed all issues. I have not heard any concrete point or argument about which anti-democratic changes have occurred in Georgia for the last period.

I had questions about Transparency law and here I also heard general assessments, without any argument or going into detail. I asked the Under Secretary to provide concrete remarks in the future otherwise it would be hard to react. Our wish is to deepen relations with the U.S. and we have fixed that standpoint many times.

There will be openness on our side but it is important to see counter-steps, we stay in the waiting regime. I shared with that message with her and I hope that everything will improve gradually, the relations will get healthier. We are sure that Georgia-US relations will change for the better from the next year,” he said.
