PM says monetary awards set for Paralympics Games medal winners

“GEL 1 million prize is set for the gold medal winner, GEL 0.5 million for silver, and GEL 250 thousand for bronze. Similar monetary prizes will be awarded at the Paralympic Games,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the farewell ceremony for Paralympic athletes heading to the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

The Prime Minister remarked that the government would do its best to promote paralympic sports.

“The government is actively engaged in supporting Georgian sports, including paralympic sports. The significant progress made in this area is evident, as before 2012, only three athletes were participating in two sports. However, Georgian sports have since experienced gradual development, with the Paralympic Committee now uniting 350 athletes. Notably, the Georgian Paralympics Delegation will field 14 athletes across six sports at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, marking a record achievement in the history of Georgian Paralympic sports,” he said.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed his support for the Georgian Paralympic team, wishing them success.

“We will follow your journey closely and I am confident that you will return to Tbilisi as winners,” he said.
