“As soon as the April 29 gathering was announced, an insulting campaign against our supporters began. They say that one hundred thousand public servants must come now, knowing the number of public servants. Our supporters from all spheres will arrive, and everyone will see huge support for our team,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to Kobakhidze, the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party does not offend the opposition’s supporters and demands the same from opponents.
“At opposition rallies, there are people sponsored by Kezerashvili and Dima Chikovani to the amount of one thousand lari, more than half of them are sponsored. One of the leaders of the United National Movement, the so-called sincere young man Igor Narmania, is one of the young people appointed by Dima Chikovani, the leader of the UNM youth organization. This is called a sincere protester. Individuals have a choice and can protest as they wish, but please be kind and do not insult our supporters. We do not allow ourselves to insult these people, neither those who spoke sincerely nor those who represent the party activists. A third of the 9,500 demonstrators were party activists, and 1,000-1,500 people were sincere protesters,” Kobakhidze said.
The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party will hold a public gathering in front of the Parliament of Georgia on April 29, responding to the request of its supporters.
