PM: Road infrastructure is modernising year-on-year; new national road safety strategy to elevate standards across Georgia’s highways

“Year-on-year, our road infrastructure is modernising, which will enable us to elevate safety standards across Georgia’s highways,” Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists when asked about the government-approved National Road Safety Strategy for 2026–2030.

According to the Head of Government, the strategy will deliver tangible outcomes for citizens.

“Broadly speaking, this is one of our chief challenges. Our statistical indicators in this area, including road fatality rates, are far from enviable. Although figures have dropped substantially compared to previous years, this remains unsatisfactory to us. Our road infrastructure improves year-on-year, which will significantly raise the bar for road safety in Georgia. This demands a consistent approach, which is why this medium-term strategic framework was crafted. We are confident that this strategy will deliver concrete results for our citizens,” Kobakhidze noted.
