PM: 'It would be honour' to recall Fischer, Germany does not have ambassador in Georgia
In response to a recent statement by German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists that it would be a ‘great honour’ for the ambassador to be recalled.
Kobakhidze’s comments followed Fischer’s remarks about Georgia’s economy, where Fischer had remarked that the economic situation in Georgia would soon change, noting that the processes in Ukraine had created factors boosting the economy, though he emphasized that this was temporary.
Kobakhidze also addressed a question regarding the recall of the ambassador, which was raised by Irakli Zarkua, a member of the parliamentary majority.
“I believe it would be a great honour for the German ambassador to be recalled. Therefore, I do not think we should make such a decision. In reality, Germany does not have an ambassador in Georgia at the moment. This is the most appropriate status for the so-called ambassador in Georgia today,” Kobakhidze added.
