PM: Patients can use state healthcare programs while benefiting from co-payment mechanism
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced during a cabinet meeting that the government is committed to enhancing healthcare programs and improving access to health services.
According to the Prime Minister, the government has decided to allow patients the option to participate in state healthcare programs while also benefiting from a co-payment mechanism without needing to withdraw from these programs.
“In cases where a co-payment is involved, patients will receive full financing but will only be responsible for payment related to VIP services, such as nursery services, hospital room categories, or materials used,” he explained.
The Prime Minister clarified that the specifics of the co-payment arrangement will be outlined in a decree issued by the Health Minister and that ongoing consultations with the medical sector will continue.
“This initiative pertains to the DRG system and aims to ease the relevant regulations, which will positively impact both patients’ situations and the interests of clinics,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
