Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili arrived in the Oni municipality to depart for the landslide-hit Shovi resort by the Border Police helicopter to inspect the situation firsthand.
The PM and Speaker held a meeting at the field headquarters of the Emergency Situations Management Service. They obtained the latest information about ongoing rescue efforts and the needs of the disaster-struck population.
On August 3, a landslide ravaged the Oni Municipality’s Shovi resort. The death toll has risen to six.
