PM on Moldova’s elections: Congratulating while this country remains in CIS is challenging

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that congratulating Moldova on its recent elections is challenging as the country continues to be a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Responding to a question on whether he intends to congratulate Maia Sandu on her electoral victory, Kobakhidze said the ruling party will wait until Moldova leaves the CIS.

“As long as Moldova remains a member of the CIS, it will be difficult for us to congratulate. We will wait until Moldova leaves the CIS, and then we will see, we will reconsider the issue of congratulations,” the Prime Minister noted.
