PM nominee presents key points of govt's priorities at meeting with opposition
Irakli Kobakhidze, a nominee for the post of Prime Minister, met with opposition factions in Parliament, where he presented key points of the government’s priorities and plans.

Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized the importance of the economy for the country’s development. He highlighted the achievements in the past three years, including doubling the nominal economy in dollar terms, improving economic and fiscal indicators, and reducing foreign debt.
The PM nominee focused on infrastructure development, including roads, aviation, railways, and communications. He prioritized the completion of ongoing projects, such as the West-East highway, Batumi bypass, Kakheti highway, and others.
Kobakhidze noted progress in a large-scale water supply project. He said that by the end of the year, 365,000 beneficiaries will benefit from improved water supply, with 130,000 gaining access to centralized water supply for the first time. The incoming PM said that the goal is to provide a central water supply to all cities in Georgia by the end of 2025.
Kobakhidze stressed the importance of utilizing the country’s energy potential. The completion of 12 new hydroelectric power stations and the continuation of the internetization project, aiming to provide high-speed internet to around a thousand villages, were highlighted.
PM nominee prioritized the completion of the West-East highway and mentioned other key projects. In railways, the focus is on completing railway modernization and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway projects. Airports’ development, including Tbilisi International Airport, Kutaisi Airport, Telavi Airport, and Mestia Airport, was outlined.
He said that he is committed to ensuring equal socio-economic development across regions. He spoke about the completion of the second phase of the renovated regions project and continued support for high-mountainous regions.
PM nominee expressed a commitment to supporting sports, with plans to gradually increase the sports budget, make new investments, host international tournaments, and provide special social support programs for sports workers.
Kobakhidze announced the construction of the Anaklia port as a top priority. he said that the works have started, and a private company will be selected to lead the project.
