PM meets Permanent Under-Secretary of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Sir Philip Barton, Permanent Under-Secretary of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

At the meeting in Government Administration, the strategic partnership and positive dynamic in the development of political relations between Georgia and the United Kingdom were discussed.

As the Prime Minister noted, Georgia appreciates the firm support of the UK for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-recognition policy. Irakli Garibashvili underlined the considerable contribution of the UK to the empowerment of state institutions and the country’s democratic development.

The parties at the meeting discussed the Georgia-UK Wardrop Strategic Dialogue that encompasses a whole specter of strategic partnership cooperation between the two countries and underpins the cooperation agreement. The conversation touched on the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the war’s impact on the regional security environment.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia, Mark Clayton, Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, and Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze attended the meeting.
