PM meets OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission 

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met representatives of the OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission in Georgia.

According to the Government Administration, the October 26 parliamentary elections served as the main topic for discussion.

The PM stated that the government was committed to holding free elections in a competitive environment as in previous years and invited several reputable international organizations for short-term and long-term observation. He reconfirmed his readiness to cooperate with international observers.

Irakli Kobakhidze noted that the pre-election environment was free and competitive as confirmed by the interim report of the OSCE/ODIHR observer mission.

The MP stressed that radicalization of political processes remained the opposition’s agenda but in general, the processes were healthy and peaceful.

Irakli Kobakhidze highlighted the significance of impartial assessment of the election process by international observers and remarked that the government was open to monitoring pledging the upcoming October 26 parliamentary elections would be held in a fair, free and competitive environment.
