Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with representatives of the NDI’s Pre-Election Assessment Mission.
Attention at the meeting was paid to the process of preparation for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections. The country’s electoral environment and expectations were discussed.
In this context, the conversation touched on the important reforms implemented. It was noted that this year marks the first time when electronic voting will be put to use, meaning that vote casting and counting, and voter registration, will be carried out electronically. Irakli Kobakhidze underscored that the electoral reform was implemented based on recommendations from the OSCE/ODIHR and the Venice Commission.
According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Government will do everything to hold the elections in a free and fair environment and to ensure extensive election observation.
In the meeting at the Government Administration, attention was also paid to the importance of Georgia-NDI partnership and prospects of future cooperation.
