PM meets Minister of State of the United Kingdom for Europe and North America
Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili met the Minister of State of the United Kingdom for Europe and North America, Leo Docherty.
The meeting held within the Government Administration focused on the discussion of the existing strategic partnership between the two countries, along with cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats.
Dignitaries reviewed the prospects of strengthening cooperation in various fields. In this context, the importance of the existing “Wardrop Strategic Dialogue” between Georgia and the United Kingdom, which contributes to the strengthening of cooperation in various fields, was highlighted.
Attention was paid to the positive recommendation of the European Commission regarding the granting of EU candidate status to Georgia.
Among the topics discussed were also the environment and challenges in the region and the world. Attention was focused on the positive role that Georgia can play in achieving security and stability in the South Caucasus. Irakli Garibashvili expressed Georgia’s readiness to continue its contribution to peace and stability in the region.
Irakli Garibashvili shared information with the visiting British government official on the ongoing reforms implemented by the Government of Georgia and expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for its contribution to the strengthening of state institutions and the democratic development of the country.
Prime Minister of Georgia drew attention to the security and humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and thanked Leo Docherty for his unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
Mark Clayton, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia; Katie Dunn, Deputy Head of the Central Asia and Eastern Neighborhood Department of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom and Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration attended the meeting.
