PM meets Italian Ambassador to Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Massimiliano D’Antuono, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Georgia, Government Administration

At the introductory meeting, the Head of Government congratulated the diplomat on his appointment to a new position and wished him success.

Irakli Garibashvili underlined that Italy is Georgia’s reliable partner, and the two countries are bound together by common European values. Focus was placed on the importance of the historic decision to grant the EU candidate status to Georgia, also pointing out that the country appreciates Italy’s considerable role in this process.

The Prime Minister thanked the diplomat for Italy’s firm support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The conversation touched on the importance of further deepening the ties between the two countries in a variety of areas, including the economic and trade directions. The defense, education, and cultural cooperation between Georgia and Italy was also discussed.

Attention was also drawn to Georgia’s positive economic indicators and the country’s favourable investment environment.

The meeting at the Government Administration was attended by Fabiola Albanese, Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Georgia.
