Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, met with President of the International Ski Federation, Johan Eliash.
At the meeting, the ongoing process of the 2023 World Championship in Bakuriani, Freestyle, Snowboard and Friski was discussed. It was noted that Georgia is hosting such a large-scale sports competition for the first time in winter sports, where about 700 athletes from 42 countries participate, and the participation of Georgian athletes in the World Championship is a very good opportunity for them to get good experience that they will use in future competitions.
The conversation touched on the infrastructure projects implemented in Bakuriani with the support of the Government of Georgia. It was noted that the Government of Georgia allocated 270 million GEL for the projects implemented in Bakuriani. Within the framework of the championship, three new cable cars were built, six new tracks were arranged. In addition, a modern snowmaking system of European standards was installed on a 30-kilometer section.
As Yohan Eliash noted, such a high-level competition is being held in Georgia for the first time, and everything is organized at the highest level. According to him, great work has been done by the organizing committee.
The PM and the President of the International Ski Federation discussed future plans and future activity of Georgia in winter sports.
