PM meets CoE Commissioner of Human Rights

Irakli Garibashvili, Georgian Prime Minister met Dunja Mijatović, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe (CoE).

At the meeting held in the Government Administration, steps taken by the Georgian government for the last 10 years for the national mechanisms of human rights protection were discussed.

The PM remarked that Georgia is committed to fundamental rights and freedoms as guaranteed by the Constitution. He spoke about the anti-discrimination law in detail.

The sides also touched on the human rights and humanitarian issues in Georgia’s occupied regions and reiterated the Georgian government’s commitment to resolving territorial conflicts peacefully.
