PM meets British parliamentary delegation

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili met with the British parliamentary delegation headed by Jonathan Janoglli, Chairman of the Inter-Party Parliamentary Friendship Group on Georgia.

MP noted that the official visit of the delegation is another clear confirmation of the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United Kingdom and expressed hope that the close relations between the two countries will be further intensified in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

The conversation focused on the ongoing democratic reforms implemented by the Georgian government, including the reform of the electoral and judicial systems.

During the meeting, focusing on the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, the Prime Minister stressed that Georgia continues to provide political support to Ukraine, both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Irakli Gharibashvili focused on the important role of the international community, including the United Kingdom, in ensuring security in the region, especially on the eastern flank of Europe.

The Head of the government noted that in the light of the existing challenges, close security cooperation between the United Kingdom and Georgia is gaining special urgency.

The Chairman of the United Kingdom Delegation reaffirmed his strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Prime Minister thanked the members of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom for their significant contribution to the democratic development of the country through the strengthening of state institutions and the Good Governance Fund (GGF).
